Observations in Elementary Schools

Professor Moore used three elementary schools in the lower-income area of a large American city for his field work. In all three schools recent migration, low income, and varied ethnic backgrounds combine to make both school and teacher a foreign and bewildering environment for the child that, in turn, the teacher may find difficult to understand. This book asks the reader to project himself into the urban classroom in order to secure a vivid and detailed picture of these surroundings.
