Scone Cold Revenge
Chocolate Shoppe Mysteries
“Action!” Jillian Green is thrilled when Belle Haven becomes the setting for a low-budget horror film. The Chocolate Shoppe Bakery will cater the film crew’s meals and snacks, and the rental checks for the use of the mansion and its grounds for location shots will be a boon to her hopes of completely restoring the antebellum home.
Then a venerable actress who plays a lead character is the victim of attempted murder and is hospitalized. And, to make matters worse, Jillian’s great-aunt, Cornelia Montgomery, has been recruited as the actress’s stand-in and is almost immediately the target of an “accident.” As a seemingly star-crossed production continues, and mishap after mishap slams the Belle Haven and Moss Hollow environs, Jillian begins to think the whole Hollywood connection is a horrible idea.
But will Jillian, her best friend Savannah Cantrell, and the members of the Southern Sweetie Pies baking club be able to figure out who the phantom behind all the mayhem is before it’s too late?
Jillian is faced with a daunting list of suspects who might have a motive. First there is the director of the film, Christopher Dark. A brooding man, he has been driven to the brink of lunacy by the demands of Gloria Baxter, the injured star.
And what of Collette Rawles, the leader of a group of protesters who gather each day at the gates of the mansion, hoping to stop the production? Annika Venn seems to have a connection to Gloria’s first film Hexe. That could be a clue.
All Jillian knows is that she must find the answers to an increasingly complex script of riddles before the curtain falls once and for all on the movie—and Aunt Cornelia.
