The New Site is Live!

Detroit Specials finally has a new website with easier navigation and smoother checkout. I’ll also be rolling out some new features in the next few weeks that will improve the experience for everyone.

Part of the new business plan involves formal partnerships with Detroit-area rescue organizations. A percentage of all sales through the site will be donated to a different organization each quarter. The first group I’m supporting is Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control (FoDACC), a non-profit organization that supports Detroit Animal Care and Control (DACC).

FoDACC not only helps the DACC staff by exercising and socializing many of the hundreds of animals that come in each month, they coordinate shelter-to-rescue transfers; arrange for emergency animal transport; advocate for responsible pet ownership throughout southeast Michigan and beyond; and, most importantly, work night and day to boost the shelter’s adoption rates (and thereby cut euthanasia rates). Because FoDACC’s influence is so wide-ranging, Detroit Specials will be donating 20%-30% of all sales from this site and up to 40% of sales from the attached eBay and Etsy shops to FoDACC not only for the rest of 2019 but for the first quarter of 2020 as well.

And in honor of all of FoDACC’s hard work, the first sale on the new Detroit Specials site is all about animal stories: most of our books featuring animals have been reduced in price to $1.00 for the rest of 2019, and most of the rest have been discounted by 10%-20%. So if you’ve ever wanted to grab a copy of Marley and Me or Old Yeller, this is the time!

If you want to stay updated on Detroit Specials news and weekly sales — and on our latest fosters — just sign up to follow this blog, or follow us on Facebook or Instagram. If you have any questions about the site, or if you’d like to request a book, please use one of the forms on our Contact page.

I mean, just look at those two…of course you want updates. 😉
